What is narrative therapy?
Everyone has a story. Without noticing, we are writing and re-writing our stories every day - the pen is always moving across the page, working away in the background.
How we see ourselves, and how we experience life, is dependent on the things we tell ourselves.
There are endless ways through which our stories are shaped over time:
Traumatic events
Childhood memories & experiences
Friendships, families & relationships
Workplaces & where we spend our time
Society, and how society treats us
Our feelings & thoughts, and what we do with those feelings & thoughts.
Narrative therapy is a non-pathologising, relational and collaborative style of counselling that places you and your story at its centre.
It is guided by the belief that everyone has a unique story, and that every person has a unique set of skills, experiences and strengths that can change their own stories.
