How I can help you reclaim your story.
My approach is underpinned by narrative practice.
I use narrative therapy because it is:
non-pathologising
collaborative
trauma-informed & safe
a social justice approach
compassionate & without judgement
accessible across ages, abilities & cultures
At it’s core, it:
is a re-writing of dominant & problematic storylines in your life
breaks down issues into helpful, manageable sections
helps clients externalise their problems (e.g. “I am not the problem, the problem is the problem”)
broadens our minds & hearts in exploring parts of our stories in ways we may not have thought about before
puts the client at the centre of it all, as the expert in their life
Here is a non-exhaustive list of issues & concerns I see regularly as a psychotherapist.
-
Anxiety plagues most people these days, as life is increasingly designed to make our blood pressure race.
Depression can go unchecked for many years in a person.
Whether it’s a tough period for your mental health, or an ongoing issue you live with, I can offer you a space to explore these feelings safely and effectively.
-
Do you find yourself lashing out sometimes? Shutting down? Withdrawing? Going without sleep?
Life demands a lot of us. Whether you’re a teenager on the verge of adulthood, or a busy adult juggling a work-life balance, stress can eat away at us physically and emotionally, leaving us disconnected from our loved ones and our truest selves. I use evidence-based practices to understand where stress and anger comes from and how to manage symptoms effectively. -
Everyone processes grief differently. However, everyone needs support when we experience significant loss in our lives. Talking through our feelings, outlook and changes in life after loss is a vital part of healing. Red Hill Therapy integrates narrative practice into understanding loss in a safe and meaningful way.
-
Moving into parenthood, with any number of children can be one of the most vulnerable and difficult periods in a person’s life.
I have a solid understanding of the mental health issues that arise after birth: let me walk you through them so you can heal, and begin to enjoy life with your children.
-
Not everyone is born with a strong identity, high self-esteem and a sense of belonging in the world. Sometimes, we lose sight of who we are along the way. Narrative therapy can help you remember who you are, to help you live authentically and to reclaim your story.

I have extensive experience in trauma-informed counselling.
Traumatic events, especially in childhood, can rewire our brains and change our worldview, altering our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing on a molecular level. Generational trauma lives in in our DNA, passed down often without acknowledgement.
The definition of a traumatic event is different for everyone - whatever you believe was traumatic for you might be different for another person.
But whatever has happened to you, I’m here to help you heal.
-
LGBTQIA+ people are more likely to experience poor mental health due to social stigmas and societal pressure to conform to being cis-gendered and heteronormative.
At Red Hill Therapy, you can expect to feel completely secure in this therapeutic space as I support and affirm your gender identity, sexuality and sexual orientation. I’m here to celebrate, nurture and support your LGBTQIA+ journey.
-
I have a lot of experience working with young people from the age of 15 as they navigate moving through adolescence.
Teenagers are more likely to experience low mental health now than ever before.
I’ve helped young people work through childhood trauma, mental health concerns, breaking generational trauma cycles, stress, anger, loneliness and friendship problems.
I enjoy helping teens and young adults understand their strengths, how they hold power and how to make positive choices as they strive into adulthood.
-
I have worked as a counsellor for women and children healing from domestic violence, and as a men’s accountability counsellor, for men who have been perpetrators of violence. Domestic violence is not limited to physical violence, but also encompasses emotional, psychological, financial and systems abuse to wield power and control.
Recovering from this dynamic affects women, gender-diverse people and children to a disproportionate level.
In order to stitch the mental wounds domestic abuse can leave, let’s rewrite the story of your life - I will provide you the space and time to heal.
-
I just spend the last year working as a men’s behaviour change practitioner. This service helps men, in a compassionate & judgement-free space, unpack their use of domestic violence, examine their relationship to violence & work to change their behaviours towards their loved ones.
Narrative therapy works well in this setting - many men who use violence in the home carry generational trauma from seeing violence in childhood homes. Many men also hold unchallenged, problematic ideas about women and children.Red Hill Therapy offers a space for men to re-learn who they are as brothers, uncles, fathers, boyfriends and husbands with an evidence-based and trauma-informed manner.
Sometimes it can feel challenging to shake up our long-held notions of masculinity and violence, but change is always possible in the right environment, and with the right therapist.
-
You don’t need to be falling apart in order to speak to a counsellor. Sometimes getting to know your past, and unpicking some of the less-helpful storylines that have come up, can expand your sense of how to move into the future.

I offer 60 minute sessions at $120 per session.
I also offer sliding scale fees for clients who cannot pay the full fee, or where paying the full fee is a barrier to accessing counselling.
Costs should not be a barrier. No thanks. Nope. Not here.
Counselling and psychotherapy are treatments, not luxuries, and I do not want costs to become a barrier to accessing Red Hill Therapy. Please reach out to me about sliding scale fees and we can come up with a plan together.
-
Before our first session, I would like to offer you a free 10 minute phone consultation to get a sense of your therapeutic needs. If working together is beneficial, we can go ahead with either an open-ended arrangement, or agree to a fixed number of sessions.
Once we have organised a time to meet for our first session, you can expect unconditional support and care for your mental health requirements within a safe and therapeutic space.
In our first session I will ask you to read over a confidentiality and costs agreement for sessions.
-
I understand things come up and sometimes, we need to cancel sessions. Please provide me with 48 hours for a cancellation as this ensures I can operate a smooth business and meet the needs of all my clients.
-
There is no wrong answer to this question. You may need some short-term counselling for a difficult period you are navigating. Or, you might feel the need to engage in a longer-term therapeutic relationship. Either way, we will discuss your needs and goals in the first 1-2 sessions and come up with a plan that works for you.
-
Unfortunately, Medicare rebates are not available to counsellors and psychotherapists. This is why I make every attempt to keep my rates competitive. If costs are an issue for you, please reach out privately and we can figure something out.
-
Absolutely! Zoom and telephone counselling is available at all times. This is especially helpful if you don't live nearby and need some flexibility.
