What I Offer
My approach is underpinned by narrative practice. This is a non-pathologising framework that focuses instead on the stories we develop and carry throughout our lives.
-
Whether it’s a tough period for your mental health, or an ongoing issue you live with, I can offer you a space to explore these feelings safely and to offer strategies for behavioural change.
-
Life demands a lot of us. Whether you’re a teenager on the verge of adulthood, or a busy adult juggling a work-life balance, stress can eat away at us physically and emotionally, leaving us disconnected from our loved ones and our truest selves. I use evidence-based practices to understand where stress and anger comes from and how to manage symptoms effectively.
-
Everyone processes grief differently. However, everyone needs support when we experience significant loss in our lives. Talking through our feelings, outlook and changes in life after loss is a vital part of healing.
-
Both ante and post-partum depression are to be treated seriously and with compassion and empathy. Moving into parenthood, whether you’re having one or multiple children, can be one of the most vulnerable and difficult periods in a person’s life. I have a solid understanding of the mental health issues that arise after birth: let me walk you through them so you can heal, and begin to enjoy life with your children.
-
Not everyone is born with a strong identity, high self-esteem and a sense of belonging in the world. Sometimes, we lose sight of who we are along the way. Counselling can help you remember, to help you live authentically.
-
I have extensive experience in trauma-informed counselling. Traumatic events, especially in childhood, can rewire our brains and change our worldview, altering our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing on a molecular level. The definition of a traumatic event is different for everyone - whatever you believe was traumatic for you might be different for another person. But whatever has happened to you, I’m here to help you heal.
-
LGBTQIA+ people are more likely to experience poor mental health due to social stigmas and societal pressure to conform to being cis-gendered and heteronormative. At Red Hill Therapy, you can expect to feel completely secure in this therapeutic space as I support and affirm your gender identity, sexuality and sexual orientation. I’m here to celebrate, nurture and support your LGBTQIA+ journey.
-
I have a lot of experience working with young people from the age of 15 as they navigate moving through adolescence. Teenagers are more likely to experience low mental health now in 2024 than ever before. I’ve helped young people work through childhood trauma, mental health concerns, breaking generational trauma cycles, stress, anger, loneliness and friendship problems. I enjoy helping teenagers understand what is within their control in their lives, and to empower them in their choices as they strive into adulthood.
-
I have worked as a counsellor for women and children healing from domestic violence, and as a men’s accountability counsellor, for men who have been perpetrators of violence. Domestic violence is not limited to physical violence, but also encompasses emotional, psychological, financial and systems abuse to wield power and control. Recovering from this dynamic affects women, gender-diverse people and children to a disproportionate level. In order to stitch the mental wounds domestic abuse can leave, let’s rewrite the story of your life - I will provide you the space and time to heal.
Fees & Sessions
-
I offer 60 minute sessions at $90 per session.
Counselling and psychotherapy are treatments, not luxuries, and I do not want costs to become a barrier to accessing Red Hill Therapy. Please reach out to me about sliding scale fees and we can come up with a plan together. -
Before our first session, I would like to offer you a free 10 minute phone consultation to get a sense of your therapeutic needs. If working together is beneficial, we can go ahead with either an open-ended arrangement, or agree to a fixed number of sessions.
Once we have organised a time to meet for our first session, you can expect unconditional support and care for your mental health requirements within a safe and therapeutic space.
In our first session I will ask you to read over a confidentiality and costs agreement for sessions. -
I understand things come up and sometimes, we need to cancel sessions. Please provide me with 48 hours for a cancellation as this ensures I can operate a smooth business and meet the needs of all my clients.
-
There is no wrong answer to this question. You may need some short-term counselling for a difficult period you are navigating. Or, you might feel the need to engage in a longer-term therapeutic relationship. Either way, we will discuss your needs and goals in the first 1-2 sessions and come up with a plan that works for you.
-
Unfortunately, Medicare rebates are not available to counsellors and psychotherapists. This is why I make every attempt to keep my rates competitive. If costs are an issue for you, please reach out privately and we can figure something out.
-
Absolutely! Zoom and telephone counselling is available at all times. This is especially helpful if you don't live nearby and need some flexibility
Please note that I am currently only offering telehealth therapy sessions while I look for a new space for my practice.
